LOVE/VOTE

When I first think of patriotism, I think of love for my country which led me to Robert Indiana’s iconic Love design which I have seen as sculpture and postal stamp.  Using that work as my inspiration I changed up the colors and started my project.  While mulling over patriotism, I checked out what the web had to say about it. There are many ways to demonstrate patriotism such as serving one’s country, but in most countries, also by voting.  While piecing the letters, I realized that I was one letter away from VOTE.  I thought about the fact that while some people are working very hard to get to cast their vote, others choose not to vote. I could not choose between my two designs, so this quilt is double sided.
