January 2020 marked the ten-year anniversary of the DC Modern Quilt Guild, founded by Natalie Hardin. The guild started out as a small group of quilters who met to handsew at Ebenezer's Coffee Shop in Capitol Hill.
As the modern quilting movement grew, the guild eventually became a registered chapter of the Modern Quilt Guild and now includes over 100 members from all over the Washington, DC area.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, all our guild's activities have been moved online but, as you will see from the quilts below, our group remains active. While each member chose to interpret "Ten" in a completely unique way, we all approach quilting with creativity, enthusiasm, and an appreciation of both new techniques and time-tested traditions.
We hope you enjoy this gallery of quilts created by 33 guild members to celebrate our guild's first ten years, with hopefully many more to follow.
